High School Art and Design Festival

High School Art and Design Festival
Saturday, Apr 6, 2024
Art and Anthropology Building (PAA)
1500 South Avenue K, Station 54

The ENMU Department of Art is thrilled to bring back the annual High School Art & Design Festival! High school classes, their teachers, or individual students may attend any or all days to experience hands-on workshops, demonstrations, performances, portfolio reviews, and the opportunity to compete for an ENMU scholarship.

Types of Workshops:

Workshops are led by the ENMU Department of Art’s faculty, focusing on their specialty subjects. Students can customize their schedule by attending their choice of topics offered each day. Each workshop will be repeated at least once, ensuring students can experience all the festival offers. Art teachers are encouraged to participate, too. Each topic is geared towards the ambitious, creative artist. Workshop topics will include:

Introduction to Chainmaille with jewelry and sculpture Prof. Greg Senn
Studio Portrait Photography and Post Editing with photography Prof. Bob Dart.
Gig Poster Design with Graphic Design Prof. Ann Underwood
Reductive Charcoal Portraits with painting and drawing Prof. Britta Urness
Wheel Throwing Pottery with ceramics Prof. William Wright
Steampunk Robot Digital Collage with Graphic Design Professor Scott Golem
Plein Air Landscape Painting with drawing and art history professor Dr. Julian Francolino

A final, detailed workshop and activity schedule will be shared closer to the event date and emailed to schools and individuals who register.

Portfolio Review and Scholarship Competition

Students may sign up for one-on-one portfolio reviews on the last morning of the festival (Saturday, April 6). Bring together your best projects and artwork (viewed digitally or in person) for a comprehensive evaluation by experienced art and design professors and professionals. Any level of high school student may participate to gain valuable insights and constructive feedback on your creative work. Faculty reviewers will be ready to award scholarship funds to students intending to apply or attend ENMU, so don’t miss this amazing opportunity!
