This year is Silver City’s 10th Anniversary as a CDT Gateway Community, and we are celebrating! Join us for a speaker series, a gear expo and celebration in partnership with Gila Earth Day, community hikes, a pancake breakfast, and more!

Cultural Speaker Series and Kickoff Celebration

9:00 am - 5:00 pm: The Silco Theater: Learn more about the Continental Divide landscape from local speakers representing diverse cultural perspectives.
9:00 am - 10:30 am: Welcome and Indigenous Leaders and Speakers Panel: Join speakers for an insightful and engaging panel and a showing of Connections to the Land. The panel will be moderated by Corey Torivio, Pueblo of Acoma and CDTC New Mexico Regional Representative.
11:00 am - 12:30 pm: Wolves in the Gila Region: Join Warm Spring Apache Wolf Biologist, Krista Beazley, to learn about wolves in the Gila region.
1:00 PM - 2:00 pm: CDT Journey Through the Gila: Join Whitney "Allgood" LaRuffa to talk about his thru-hiking journey on the CDT through the Gila through the Black Range - before the fire.
2:30 PM - 3:30 pm: Gila Panel: Hear from speakers with a range of personal and professional backgrounds discussing the Gila.
4:00 PM - 5:00 pm: Elected Official Panel
5:30 PM - 9:00 pm: Trail Days Kick-Off Fiesta: Little Toad Creek Brewery and Distillery: Celebrate the kickoff of Trail Days 2024 with us at Little Toad Creek Brewery and Distillery! We will have live music, dancing, raffle prizes, and fun along with beverages provided by our friends at Little Toad.
